New Year….New Hue

pantone-greenery-2017

Well here we are in 2017……and if you are anything like myself then I had only just started getting used to writing 2016…..when its all change again !!

So its a New Year and a New Hue and according to the lovely Pantone colour people ‘Greenery’ or Pantone 15-0343TCX is the colour of the year.pantone-greenery-2

Its funny because for the past 8 months or so I have been pondering the zestiness of green and wanting to inject some of that colour into my Living room to brighten things up alittle and rev up the taupes and greys that I love so much, at the moment purple is my pop of colour in the room.

‘Pantone’ says there seems to be a real urge in the world ( not just in my living room then) for green and everything it stands for. Leatrice Eiseman, Director of the Pantone Institue quotes ” satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose”    And I for one knows just what she means. Greenery doesn’t strike you instantly as a sophisticated colour but used in the right way, it can indeed look very classy. Greenery is anything but boring, it shouts looks at me, its perky, its a little powerhouse of colour and alittle goes a long way.

Keep it fresh and bright with white and it looks crisp with greys and dark greens, an easy way is to introduce it is with some botanical prints and plants and apparently house plants are cool again, then again I didn’t ever thing they weren’t !!

Another super bright zingy colour combination is green with a crimson pink, with purples and indigos, it also looks super teamed with navy too.

Only one problem with this colour is that it has a lot of yellow in it, so be selective what rooms you use it in, too much in bright sunny rooms and you will be needing sunglasses.

However I must say that a bright pop of colour can be just what is needed to perhaps a classic or traditional room to make it feel young and alive again……hopefuly this will work with my room……..perhaps I should also try wearing this colour too…..D xx

Wonderful inspiration for the new year. It is so nice to see greenery with other tones… I’m a bit bored of seeing it paired with the safe choice of white, I love the dark navy and green and especially adore the pink and green so Kate Spade! X
