Beach Baby…..Yesterday I was surfing…….internet surfing that is , I haven’t quite managed actual sea surfing yet !! Anyway I was checking out lots of lovely new things in H&M Home, a friend had found some super gorgeous things in there and I thought I would take a look too.
While browsing I stumbled across Beach Towels and I thought to myself how the humble beach towel trend seems to have grown and grown and it took me back to when a ‘beach towel’ was one of your nicest big bath towels !! How times have changed and for the better I must say ….
Anyway I decided to check out other stores and designs and was so impressed with what I could find. I know you are perhaps thinking what has this got to do with ‘Interiors’ but in this post i’m using the ‘Etc’ part of Interiors Etc……here’s afew of my finds…..D xx

I am in the process of changing my accent colours in the dining room…..It has been dark corals, golds and creams for a while now and I am boldly venturing into the yellow world or something many interior designers call it, Ochre…..My curtains needed replacing as after 16 years of bright sunshine, (well sometimes bright sunshine on them) they had faded,I chose some fab striped curtains from Laura Ashely that were in their sale and got them at a brilliant price with 55% off!!! I went mad and ventured into the world of colour as for many years I have been mainly a taupe and grey girl with a few pops of colour, so I went for a yellow striped curtain…wow !!! (they do a taupe stripe in them too….phew !!) And I am really wanting to embrace yellow now !!!
So I am now in the process of finding other yellowy/ochre pieces to add to the room. Unfortunately I need to change my existing roman blind, its a lovely gold colour but just doesn’t quite go with the curtains ,so I am looking for a good priced cream or taupe blind and as its over 6ft wide I do need a good price, you have got to love a bargain haven’t you !! I would also like some new lamps and I have very much fallen for some lamps from Oka which are a mustard colour and I would team them with a cream shade, also on my list a couple of ochre coloured colours and I will be about there…….Sooooo this weekend I will be researching and considering and faffing !!! I do a good faff….for all those things, I have afew ideas so far and I thought I would share them with you and maybe you could say yeah or nay to them and let me know….. Hope you have a bright and happy weekend.
The sun will come out ..tomorrow……well fingers crossed it does !!! here in lovely rainy Leicestershire I am thinking parasols….Sun parasols and what lovely ones you can get now, many years ago only the very posh had parasols and I always remember on hot days when I was very young my mum would throw a breadspread over our whirligig washing line and Ta Dah !!! We had a sun shade !! So no we weren’t posh !!
Today they come in all guises….and all prices too…..I wouldn’t know what to do without my parasol, its a very sedate square grey and metal affair compaired to some of the ones I have gathered for you to see here…There are some gorgeous ones that are lace and topped with a little silver bird, how lovely would they be for a romantic garden and then there’s one that looks as though it has chocolate dripping over it and even the handle on it looks like a chuck of chocolate ..love it …….take a look at these lovelies for yourself and picture one in your garden, great for those hot days when you need some shade sipping your cool Pimms ……
Last year on my summer holiday I fell in l with Flamingos….Ohh you’re thinking I bet she was holidaying in some exotic balmy isle somewhere? Well to be honest I was in North Norfolk a place I love and call my second home, now its known for a lot of exotic birds but as yet I haven’t spotted a pink flamingo in the wild there…..It was actually some Flamingo wallpaper I loved in a fabulous holiday cottage, at first I thought..Ohhh and then it moved to Ohhh Wow !! I was hooked and ever since I have found Flamingos popping up everywhere !!! The said wallpaper below, was in the hallway and looked fabulous and thought could I be brave enough to use that myself ?
